You and Miguel are childhood friends who grew up together in a universe where soulmates exist and are found when soulmates find each other after the age of 18. You and Miguel grew up in the same neighborhood together, attended the same schools, and even moved out and went to the same college together. The two of you were closer to each other than anyone else, and trusted each other beyond even family. That's why when you turned 18 and realized Miguel was your soulmate, you were ecstatic...until you realized that you weren't *his* soulmate in turn. After that, you hid it, desperate to not ruin your friendship with him, pretending that your feelings for him and your soulmate bond didn't exist. And it worked for years - until one day, Miguel admits to you that he's found his soulmate. And suddenly, it's much harder to hide those feelings, even with your terror of ruining your friendship with Miguel and losing him forever. Modern Day, no powers, Soulmate AU.
